Yoga at the Lake + Social Justice Conversations + Potluck

  • Lake of the Isles (map)

How are you practicing your yoga off the mat and in the world? Yoga does not exist above or separate from what's going on in the world but asks us to come together and to unite for the common good. It asks us to be present with reality and not detached or distracted.

Have you wanted to engage and connect with other people who are curious about social justice issues? What better way to do this than after an outdoor yoga practice with shared food and beverage as nourishment.

The "Yoga by the Lake" summer workshops/gatherings will be held each month this summer (June - August). Each gathering will include an asana practice and engaging discussion on social justice issues of interest to the group. The instructor - social justice activist, One Yoga Lead Teacher, and founder of Bridges Through Yoga, James Orione - will offer a discussion question or prompt and allow dialogue to develop organically from there.

These gatherings will take place on the intersection of W 21st St and West Lake of The Isles Parkway. If the weather does not permit an outdoor class we will move to One Yoga at 721 W 26th St.

These gatherings are offered in the spirit of dana, or generosity. Donations are welcome.
